Performance of November Historical Calls! (Positive)

The month of November sees my portfolio close on a positive of +$2,280 after factoring a loss of -$196 commission payment. There is win-loss ratio of 2 winning vs 2 losing trade. 8 trades are still in running (or should I say floating aimlessly with the directionless market), with a total unrealized profit/loss is +$4,780. Of the 2 losing trades, OCBC (Short) was counter trend trading strategy at breakdown of window resistance with a risk level set at $800 (Level 2). This risk taken should have been halve to $400 (Level 1) as the condition of trading was all against the odds (counter trend trading and break out trading). On my second loss, AscendasREIT triggered my stop loss within the intraday. However, I am glad to close my position according to the planned stop loss at $2.26 (actually I closed at $2.25) to minimize my loss at my $800 risk level. AscendasREIT closed at a low of $2.22 today, a possible loss of -$1,440 if i did not stay discipline to my plan. As i have highlighted last month that I will be experimenting on a new high probability trading strategy by segregating the risk of a trade setup into 3 different levels at $400, $800 and $1600 (posted on 1/11/13, http://singaporestockstrading.com/2013/11/01/performance-of-october-historical-calls-positive/) , Goodpack (23/10/13) has shown the yield of this strategy by giving me the largest ever realized profit at $3,150 within a trade! I am very excited to see how my other trades at $1,600 (Goodpack 30/10/13 , ARA 22/11/13) will be playing out. Will monitor and looking forward to share the result next...

Lessons from a Citibank Trader

Came across this great article and it is definitely my obligation to share with all traders out there. The financial markets are complex and dynamic, and actively managing money as an investor or a trader demands energy, tough work and a lot of discipline. Portfolio Manager Bruce Bower understands this, and in an article last year from SMB Capital’s SMBU website, Bower shared his early years of experience when he first joined the investment industry as a trader. Many of the lessons and interesting insights shared by Bower echoes throughout what has been shared thus far on BillionaireInvestor. Here are some of the key takeaways that we can learn: (1) Find A Mentor Trading and Investing is a skill, half art and half science. Like any other skills in life; whether its cooking or writing or martial arts, they all require huge amounts of discipline, time and effort to be able to acquire, much less master them. A surgeon becomes good at surgery through years of study and experience. A musician studies and practices for many hours everyday to become proficient at his instrument. Being a good trader or investor demands the same amount of discipline, practice and effort – making money is simply not as easy as what many think. But all forms of skills requires a mentor to impart and facilitate. Finding a good mentor for your investment journey will shorten your learning curve, and guide you along the way. Bower got a job at Citibank’s currency and fixed income trading desk, and he found a mentor in one of Citibank’s best proprietary traders, and he utilized...
